Does anyone use a Sony notebook with WinXP for NC2, camera tethered? I am considering buying the Sony next week and want to know if I should expect any problems with this setup?
Thanks.

NC2 works well on my Win XP Pro office PC. I also have a Sony notebook running Win 2K. It works well on the notebook too. I don't believe that you would have a problem.

I forgot to mention the only problem that I've encountered that has since been corrected.

When attempting to get NC2 (using WinXP Pro) to read an image from a USB card reader with a mircodrive, NC2 would crash every time on my system. It worked just fine with a CF card in the reader, and if I first copied the microdrive images to a folder and opened them from the folder. It simply had a problem with the microdrive/USB reader combo.

The cure was to change to a firewire card reader. Now it works as it should and the transfer is quicker too. I've had no problems otherwise.

If you will look at the reviews in PC mag, the Sony is rated low for quality, warranty and service. Check out Dell, IBM or Gateway--Greg GebhardtJacksonville, Florida

Thanks for the input. I was going to purchase a Sony because I wouldn't have to wait for it. I stopped by Gateway country and played with one of their systems and was impressed. Dell is top rated in the pc mags, so I think I will choose a Dell.

Are Dell laptops firewired? You need a firewire connection if you want to tether your camera to it.
