Hi All,

1st----Post here are some pictures of one of our local Hindu festivals, Thaipusam. It involves a procession from one temple to another, about 4km apart. ( I joined in for the last Km)...and only get to see how they remove the spikes.

2nd…for Photoshop Elements users (a pleasant surprise, at least for me.) I tried out > automation> webphotogallery,.. & POW! It’s there..a webpage complete with thumbnails, and downsized photos all organized into directories. What took me hours to compile, now its done within minutes.

Here’s the link,

& here are a couple of pics:

As usual, critiques & advice welcome.
Cheers,
Nelson

I wonder what hurts more - putting them in, or taking them out. Great shots. Davidk

Thanks JP, for your kind comments.
The weather certainly helps to bring out
the colours, although it's a bit hazy too.--

Hi Davidk

I think the 1st spike is most fearful.
Anyway thanks for the compliments,
Keep shooting.

Nelson,

I remembered that I had to check these out when I got back home to high bandwidth as it was choking my 56Kmodem on the road - man I feel for the low bandwidth folks! Anyway, beautifullu colorful photographs! Did you share these with those folks? Did you catch them before and after? What's the story behind this as enquiring minds want to know. If I were there I would've rented a tricycle to follow them - if there is one there! ;-) Thanks for sharing.

Hi Nelson,

Can't believe I missed these when you first posted. Thanks to Les for bumping them up!

Really enjoy "documentary" photos like this of interesting places and interesting practices. Great job.

Best wishes,

Hi Les,
Thanks for the compliments.

& very sorry bout that bandwidth, (I'm on 56K too ) Think I'll have to compress further next time. Anyway, being the shy type, hardly had a word with any of them. The crowded atmosphere did'nt help either. I joined in the walk only for the remaining km.(took time off from work), and was always a distance from each pack as they were always surounded by their followers, that's why its quite impossible getting one nice portrait shot. And story, have'nt thought of that. But here's more info from this link: http://glennh.tripod.com/wa_sing_tpsm.htm

Anyway, its been quite an experience taking pictures of people and a festival for this matter.
Regards,
Nelson

Wow Nelson, interesting subject matter and well done. As others said the color is very nice, and it's also quite a spectacle to have captured.

Aren't you glad this wasn't one of those things where you have to take part in it to be allowed to document it? :-)

PS Not sure which was more painful, the participation of your subjects or Dr. Gonzo's sharpness joke... ;-)
