i am trying to decide between the canon s30 and the oly c-3040. i do not intend to add an external flash and i am finding the price between the 2 very close. does anyone have a specific reason that i should choose one over the other? thanks--nibrah

Better size on the s30, better, faster lens on the 3040. If you're not going to expand with the 3040 (external flash, filters, etc.), you have to decide if the 'carry around' size of the s30 off-sets the 3040 lens. I'd go with the 3040, but size isn't important to me. Also I'd consider adding a G1 to your list. Should be same price. That's what I have.

There is one thing I am puzzled. Bought the S30 yesterday and one thing I found is that it is rather 'small' may be a bit too small making manipulation a bit uncomfortable and my hand is relatively small(well I wear size 6 for shoes so you can have an idea). Didn't any of the S30 owners found it a problem ?

Well I sold my Oly c3000 and bought a S40. the size of the Oly bothered me alot, it was fun to use different lenses though. I missed too many kodak moments because i had to dig out the camera. in my opinion comparing the pictures i took from the c3000 to the s40 & s30(i did a trial test) the pictures actually came out better. the only thing i'm really losing by switching over is the ability to use different lenses and the telephoto lense. maybe in a few year or two i'll buy a nice digital SLR (example: canon d30)
