Sent my Paypal payment last night. I take way to many portrait shots to not have one. I notice I tend not to hold the camera as well at 90 degrees and usually have to do a little PP to straighten the picture. I'm hoping this will minimize that issue. Will let everyone know how it is in a week or so.

Doesn't look like it. I don't know how they would connect that functionality to the camera. Probably just need to use the other hand, which might take some getting used to.

I just got my EMS shipping number from S.R. Cho, he said he shipped it out today, the 19th, and it said it should arrive on or before Jan. 23rd. I made my paypal payment on the 16th. Can't wait...

I received an e-mail yesterday from him with tracking number that said it left on the 16th. Should be here early next week.

got mine yesterday afternoon. it is really, really nice. Fits perfect and works great!

anyway. it was a real good experience. I paid on Jan 15th and it got to my house in the US on Jan 22nd.

as a side note, i ordered a grip from Ownuser on Dec 19th that I still do not have. mybuddyclub is the ebay seller and since his English is awful, i fear i may have lost $139.

I just received mine yesterday also. Haven't really been able to use it much, but it does feel a lot different holding the camera. It is pretty light weight, but I'm not sure if that is good or bad. If it was too heavy, I would hate to carry it around all the time, especially with the "beercan".

I also noticed that it is pretty easy to use the function wheel by the camera shutter button with your left hand. Just takes a little getting used to. Seems very well made and fits very nicely. Looks a little more massive now. I'm going to have to do something with the neck strap though, because it seems to be getting in the way to much.

This is the correct e-mail address for him...
[email protected]

I think that is what you typed, but it has worked fine for me. You can also go to the website and just e-mail the webmaster. I think it goes to the same place. I received mine in about 5 days.

Here is my review of the Dicain VG-1:

Purchasing & Shipment was pain free (Kind of, I'm the kind thats always anxious for packages of mine to come). E-Mail to the owner of Dicain was very prompt and easy to communicate ([email protected]). Paid through PayPal on January 16th, Received all the way from South Korea using USPS EMS Shipping on January 22nd. So Basically after the order was received and marked paid, it took 5 days. Item was packed carefully with bubble wrap inside.

The Vertical Grip itself was very well made. Build quality would be rated 4 out of 5. Rated it a 4 because of weight issue. Not a very major issue, but would be perfect if balanced out the camera better. If they incorporated an extra battery compartment, it may have balanced the camera better. Many people think the Vertical Grip is useless without an extra battery slot, but to me, it doesn't bother me, just carry an extra battery, thats all you have to do. I talked to the owner and gave him my suggestion, he said they're gladly taking in consumer input for the next version of the Grip. Besides all that, the grip looks fantastic, very clean, well made, matches the body of the Alpha very well. Even has very similar texture from the Alpha. And even the rubber grip is almost the same material of the Alpha's rubber grip. One small conflict is the memory door, when you open the memory door, it slightly gets stuck (But it doesnt require you to pull the door out with much force), it gets stuck because the VG's top mount curves on both sides to be flush with the body. It doesn't damage any part of both the body or the grip.

One thing about the Alpha body is the remote door cover, pain in the you know what. Not from using the grip, but just in general. I have the alpha remote, and whenever I plug it in, the rubber cover flap is positioned very awkwardly, I'm so tempted to cut it off, but I rather not to prevent dust from coming in. Anyways, the grip does use the remote slot to use the shutter release on the grip. So with the grip attatched, you couldn't use a remote, which kind of is a hassle sometimes. (I don't think the Alpha has infrared to use a wireless remote does it?, I wish Sony took in consideration with wireless remote like lower-end cameras like the Nikon D70).

The grip itself performs well, looks great, and helps the ease on the wrist when taking several vertical shots (I myself have shot several vertical portrait shots, and wished I had this during the time I put 9,000 pictures on just portraits), I currently have 12,000 shots on my Alpha, haha. But maybe I'll be saved now. Definitely worth getting in my opinion, doesn't seem like Sony would release a grip for the A100. Would be nice if Sony did make one, and have a wireless remote sensor built into the grip for wireless remote functions. I can always wish right?

O.K. Mine is on the way and should arrive this week. My question to those of you whom already have the grip is: (Is there room to put another battery if they decide to re-model the grip?)

I'm kinda partial to video, but I'm hangin!

I suppose it has been established that the remote shutter release slot on the grip itself is of a different model to the standard Sony one (which I have). However, can't we use the slot still on the camera itself?

I understand that if you pull out the grip's plug and replace that with your cable release, the shutter release on the grip won't work. But if you are using a cable remote anyway (I assume for use with a tripod) , why would you really care if the grip's button works or not? (At least while using the cable anyway)

Sorry if there is some simple answer to this question.....I am new to much of this.....

Hi TungTLe,

The grip has a remote shutter socket. I have asked Dicain, they said it takes a 2.5" stereotype remote of any brands...
Wondering what a 2.5' stereotype remote is...

Maybe. I don't know what the inside of the grip looks like, but you might could put one on the end. I've had the camera since it came out though, and have not had the battery die in the middle of a shoot yet. It would be easy to carry an extra battery and slip it in after the 750 or so shots with the first one.
