Always remember that the cheapest is not always the best in relation to the camera you get for your cash. Will it be despatched by return or sometime in the next six weeks, will it be an up to date model and be as supplied by Minolta( without things like chargers and batteries removed ) If there is a problem with it will you get good back up to put it right.
For my shame I once bought a Russian pic up truck that turned out to be built like a Model T. But hey it was cheap.

OK in case you did not see other posts. D7 allstarcamera.com has them for 649.99 usa version new. 24.95 for shipping in stock or were on sunday. proelectronics has them for 699.99 not know shipping and d5 for 459.99

It is 749.00 now on the website but call them and talk them down on the price that is what i did.

I called proelectronics yesterday, and after being on a majorly annoying hold for 10 minutes, asked them if the $699 price was grey market. Of course, the salesguy told me. If you want the US version (and the warranty) it's $999. NOT what they say on their website, so be careful!It is 749.00 now on the website but call them and talk them down on
the price that is what i did.
So, for sure, is allstarcamera's price is for US version, with minolta warranty? I'm ready to buy (after reading all these great posts) and want the best deal on camera, CF's and battery systems. Can I use any 49mm UV filter?

Watch out too, some of the more crooked places will tell you even if you ask directly that "yes there is a US warranty" on a grey camera. Later on when you find out that there is no warranty, they will tell you "sure there is a US warranty... I meant through us". Of course, good luck getting them to do anything; it is a bunch of guys sitting around in a bombed out store front. Bryan

You were trying to put togather this group buy for everyone to SAVE money on a D7, and you claim that you bought one for $649 , but you can't seem to give a definite "This is where I bought it, here is their phone number, and here is the person to talk to, and this is the price I paid for it."
It's like I GOT MINE! Now you all try to match it.
You seem to be sending a lot of people on wild goose chases trying to find this BARGAIN USA MODEL for $649. It ain't going to happen at that price and you know it.

Last week allstarcamera had the price at $649 for several days. The price then went up to $749 when the camera became scarce again. I wish I would have jumped on it when I had the chance, but I was worried about the reputation of the place.

On this forum we have to assume that everyone will be legit about info given etc. - but - it did seem a bit odd to me that no one else seems to have been able to buy at this price. When the bulk buy scheme came up a lot of people were keen to buy cheap D7s so why have all those folk not bought from this outlet at that price. I wondered about version 2 also.

I believe being on the up and up about things. I know rikster(2) traveled many different routes trying to put together this "group buy" but since he "got his camera"...he's been beating around the bush about where he really got it, and telling everyone to try this place or that place.
If it's one of those deals that isn't going to happen, swallow your pride and tell other potential looker/buyers "Hey guys, it ain't gonna happen"
At that point everyone knows where they stand. If they want a "cheap deal" they will have to go on the hunt themselves.
Rikster claims he talked them down on the price. If this was the case "What was his bargaining criteria?
Tell the others so that they can call this place and work out a bargain price also.

I just received my D7 today from Norman Camera unexpectedly. I did not anticipate him shipping so soon. Because I didn't expect to receive it, I saw a web ad for a D7 @ $779.00 at Photoking ( shopphotoking.com ). So, I ordered a camera from Photoking at the lower price thinking it was probably a come on.
Surprise, They really do ship, so now I may possibly have two D7s.
I am trying to cancel the second less expensive one. I would rather deal with Norman Camera. I didn't post the price on Photoking prior to this because I was not sure on how reputable they were. They did pressure me to buy additional items but I did not have to to get the camera . I did bargain them way down on the Mack warranty. though.
Norman Camera did not try to sell me anything extra.
I can't wait to get started with the camera.
