Me and my H5 are back! Here's why I left (6 imgs)

Welcome back Justin. Actually I did notice that you were gone as
it hasn’t taken me nearly as long to read all the posts lately -:)
That could be good or bad. ;)
Have to admit that you have yourself a great looking vehicle even
though I am a truck man myself….plus a Jeep. Had me wondering when
you started talking about being off the boards and getting a new
vehicle, had visions of you smacking up the old one. Glad it
wasn’t the case.
nah...the last wagon was very good to me for 4 1/2 years - it was just time to get into something new. I usually keep a car for 3-4 years.
Not sure I am looking forward to seeing more vacation pictures, you
seem to be having just a little bit too much fun compared to the
rest of us -:).
Well, I'll be vacationless for the foreseeable future...so the fun is over! :(

Being from Sweden I´v never seen a 3,6liter Passat!! Must be for the American market. I drove my friends 220 or was it 230hp 2006 Passat and i think it had a 2liter engine but man it was fast!! Perfect for a family man with led in his shoes!
Nice looking car and shots! Congrats!

I only use the car to get out TO the nature! I like to walk through the Everglades on foot - doing it in an airboat or 4x4 makes too much noise, scares away the animals, and leaves tracks and trails that ruin the land.

I enjoy off-road driving, and have done it for years in my old trucks, but I only do it in designated areas - and follow the 'tread lightly' rules!

This car is ULEV (low emissions) certified...so it doesn't pollute bad at all. :)

The larger V6 and V8 engines are definately more popular in the US where the gas is cheaper, the roads wide open, and everybody on a power hungry binge. This is the largest engine currently available in the Passat in the states - the base engine is the 2.0 Turbo 4, which is the one your friend probably has. In Europe, they have non-turbo 4-cylinder options, and of course, diesel options.

I wish we could get the diesel options!! The base TDI 4-cylinder is a bit underpowered for this large of a car, but the 6-cylinder TDI diesel engine is gorgeous - 200+HP, but more importantly, well over 300Lbs of torque from only 2,000 RPM - 0-60 runs around 6-seconds flat while still getting over 30MPG!

But so far, this engine has lots of power, makes great sounds, and gets better mileage than the 8-cylinder in my last car, so it's been good!

Thanks for the comments...and welcome back to the boards!
