S300 replaced by S310?

I am looking at the S300 and S30. I like the size of the S300

I went to check them out in the local Wolf camera and the guy said the s300 was being replaced. Interestingly Ritz only have the s110, S40 and S30 for sale.
I don't want to buy and have a new version come out very shortly after.
Canon insisted that the camera is in production - what ever that means.
Any info would be welcome.

I hear that the s310 is special version for high humid envirnments in asia, so no worry if you are not there.
