This must be today's really stupid question, but how do you attach the lens cap string to the camera body on the c700 - does it go through the same place as the camera strap?

No, it's not a dumb question at all! It's not obvious what to do with it. It's kind of hard to describe, but yes, it does attach to the same place as the strap. I actually tied it onto the strap itself, to give it a little more slack, just in case the camera turned on with the lens cap on. But, it is long enough to attach it to the little bar and still allow the lens cap to stay on if lens extended with the lens cap still on.

You know, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. Speaking of which...

It's been a while since I installed mine, but I seem to remember there was a little scrap of paper that showed how it was supposed to work. So if you still have all your paperwork, you might rummage for that.

Otherwise, I can at least confirm that yes, the cap string does go around the same little metal post as the main strap. It was a bit of a puzzle to get everything threaded up neatly, but that is where it goes.

I'd post a picture, but I don't have enough mirrors handy...

Good luck!

yes it goes on the right side, attached to the memory card compartiment.

its a bit hard to pass it through the small metal rod that hold the memory card door, but that's where it goes.

I don't use the original lens cap because i bought an adapter 52mm and got a good UV filter and so the cap does not fit anymore and i bought a new lens cap at Wolf Camera for 4$.

the lens cap i bought does not have a strap though, and i have to put it in my pocket each time not to loose it.

Carey,

I recently got this camera and there were no instructions telling how to attach the lens cap string to the camera. There were instructions on how to attach the lanyard. I pondered for awhile as to where I should put it but where else could it go? Just my 2 cents worth.

I had to find a solution also for the C2100 ..
I did not find any string in the carton box of the cameras .
Oly looks to make some economy to that .

Any way i got a nice litle leather round string and i tie it up at left side of the camera .
