There are be better such as the wider Panasonic or the Wcon07 but those are progressively more expensive considering what I'll type below... However with the 08/B28 & possibly the others I don't have... Edges soften and can develop a slight fringe as you tighten up on the zoom.. So when kept to full wide there's no sharpness issues per se... Some might prefer a bit less perspective distortion too but again less of that costs significantly more & it's not so bad that I've felt the urge to correct it...I am on the lookout for a wide angle lense for the FZ 50 I have

--Figure out how to remove the lens from your FX50 first then look at
other lenses*
the lens won't be coming off without breaking the camera...
- I personally wouldn't try it. The FZ50 isn't an SLR so I assume
Most of these add-on wide angle converters are designed for full
wide operation and as Ross says do not hold up for zooming. There
are one or two that are designed to perform well when zooming
(Raynox models as I recall) but you pay the price for those in
distortion.
WCON-08E is apparently the catalog number Olympus used in North
America for some reason for the WCON-08; the lens as I recall has
just WCON-08 printed on it. These two names refer to exactly the
same WCON-08 lens. (And the B-28 is the same two except for the
name printed on the lens). Generally though you need to pay strict
attention to the suffix on the Olympus names as they refer to
different attachment methods (thread diameters, bayonet mounts,
etc.). This lens performs well at the full wide setting as Ross's
examples show.

It works well & you can save even more by getting it in it's
previous film incarnation known as the IS/L B28 from Oly's auction
page:
http://stores.ebay.com/Olympus-Auctions_Lens-Lens-Accessories_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ9QQftidZ2QQtZkm
And there are also a couple WCons there too listed as Wcon 08E...
Normally for most Oly lenses that extra letter could ruin it for
use on the Fz30/50 due to that exta suffix denoting its use for
specific model Olys, some of which might be bayonet mounts or
severely smaller thread diameters but the 'E' model is fine, since
it's the same 55mm thread Wcon that only differs in that it comes
with a step-down to fit specific Oly's with narrower lenses... Just
don't bother with the ring & use it directly... Chances are the
Wcons might draw more bidding attention, since not everyone knows
the B28 is the same lens... Plus those B28's are almost like a
plague on that page with many appearing as fast as they dissappear
& it's been like that for a couple years...
I got mine for just under $40 last year but have read of more
recent aquisitions of it for ½ what i paid & wouldn't be surprised
if $$20-$30 all inclusive is more the norm than the exception these
days....
So go a head, turn your 50 into a hallowed 28mm street cam... for
less than the cost of a quality multi-coated polorizer...
And keep an eye on that Oly auction for MCons & BMacros too, if ya
want a hi-quality +3 diopter Achromat with 55mm threds to bolt up
to the 50... They pop up there every so often & the BMacro
especially might be had pretty cheap....

Exif can be seen by going to each link or if ya have Opanda or similar, by right-clicking on them: (in order of embeding)I have the FZ30. Did you hold your camera for these pictures, or
did you use a tripod. Also, do you know your settings for the ship
pictures and the fireworks.
Thank you.
Great photographs this looks like just the lense I need thanks for sharingI'm pretty sure I used the B28 on these (all shot with the Fz30):

But I'm posolutely absatively sure it was used on these:

And this is one I cheated on, tightening up with the zoom & got a
bit of softness on top & removed a very slight fringe there too:

And the narrow frames weren't cropped, just shot in 16:9 although
the church shot required straightening of the horizon so there was
a very slight crop to shave the blank spaces resulting from the
straightening which might bump them up to 29 or 30mm from what
would've been 28mm without the shave.. And while i did some minor
S&H or levels & maybe a little USM on a few, there was no
perspective/distortion correction & no NR...
