Has anyone had any problems w/ Lexar's USB Jumpshot working w/ the new WinXP Home operating system?

Mine was working perfectly w/ Win98 SE until I upgraded to this OS. The new drive doesn't appear anywhere when you plug it into the USB port.

If this one isn't compatible, have you any recommendations for a card reader compatible for Win XP Home?

Thanks,
zpixxx

Yes

It should work fine, you have to re-install the drivers. Win xp will say it is not recomended (or I think the say not XP aproved) but install it anyway, it will work.-- Thomas http://www.ycsphoto.com

Thanks Thomas,

But I did install it and it shows that it's in there. The only thing new that shows on my computer in the taskbar is a an icon that asks if I want to remove the new device.

But when I plug in the Jumpshot w/ a cf card, it doesn't show up anywhere as a new drive letter.

My Win 98 SE would have it pop up automatically like another drive. How do you acccess yours?

Is yours Win XP Home or Pro? I wondered if there was a difference.

I have XP home on the machine I’m using right now. And I run XPpro, in the studio and they both work fine. Did you try uninstalling it and then re-boot and plug it in without drivers, it should recognize it and ask for drivers then install them and see what happens.-- Thomas http://www.ycsphoto.com

Something I forgot to mention which you probably know is that some cards don’t work in jumpshot reader at all. It won’t see scandisk on mine-- Thomas http://www.ycsphoto.com

I only use the Lexar usb enabled cards w/ it.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall to no avail. XP says that it's in there and functioning properly, but I don't see the drive appear anywhere.

How and where do you access it if different from a new drive?

Thanks,
zpixxx

Did you try looking if this device is really working properly?
to find out go into control panel / system system properties,
Then open device manger, look for storage volumes,

hit the plus sign to open, and double click Generic volume, make sure it says it’s working properly,

If it is hit Driver details and make sure (c:\WINDOWS\System\drivers\Volsnap.sys) is the selected driver file.

And if it is not, update the driver.

If you have any more problems feel free to email me, I know it will work. [email protected]

I have experienced this problem with Win XP and the Lexar Jumpshot.

You need to download and install the Jumpshot driver ver 1.3 available on th lexar ftp at http://driver.lexarmedia.com/

After I installed these drivers Win XP could see the JumpShot and a removable drive was present in Explorer exactly the same as Win 98 SE on my 2nd PC.

Did your jump shot come with a installation disk?-- Thomas http://www.ycsphoto.com

I bought my jumpshot about 2 years ago. My OS was Win 98SE at the time and the drivers for Win 98Se were on the supplied disk.

I have a new PC with Win XP. The JumpShot was seen as a USB device by Win XP but I could not access the pics.

The problem was solved by a Lexar rep on their 24 hr live chat support. He supplied the url to the new driver (ver 1.3) for the jumpshot. I downloaded and installed the driver. Win XP detected the JumpShot and read the Compact Flash card w/o any problems.
