Hello cgbier - would you please explain your point about Oly & sport. I dont understand what you mean.
but on another notice: David, did nobody ever tell you that you are
shooting Olympus, and that sports is a no-no for an Olympus camera?

Me neither, but that's what everybody's saying:"An Olympus camera is too slow, noisy, whatever for sports" ....

I guess it is the same story story as with the bumble bee: Aerodynamically and from the wing span/body size ratio the bumble wouldn't be able to fly. But the bumble bee hasn't a clue about physics and just flies.

Thanks for your advice, the shadow noise is barely acceptable to me in this case as to avoid blow up on highlight, I tend to under expose a bit in output and push up the shadow to retain more details. The lens I use is a ZD 300mm f2.8, the 150mm is good when players come to the net but fall short on serve.
Very nice pictures. You can reduce the noise with Noiseware or
simular.
What lens did you use?

No doubt the 1DMKIIN is the king for sport at this moment but I'll have a tough time carrying 2 1D bodies and lenses like 400mm f2.8, not to mention the different in $$$! :-)
What noise???

Well, the Olympus 300/2.8 is not small money, but it seems to deliver very good pictures.

And regarding the noise, I don't see anything wrong in post processing, it is the result that matters.

Donald, there is not doubt that you are a very good sports fotograph. No doubt that you know how to handle your E-1 and lenses.

I hope you let us see more of your action photos here in the future.

Erik
