For Birders - KM7D vs 30D first day comparision

my lens funding turned 180 deg. the last few days. As I reviewed my old shots, there is still usability in the A-mount with my Bigma until I have fundings again : ). Not great but usable older shots from the A100+Bigma.
cheers,

Digitalshooter,

The Owls are from the Canon 30D with a 400 f/5.6L USM lens. These are the kinds of shots I used to get with my Maxxum 7. It did help that this owl was so curious as to fly so close to me. I normally see burrowing and short-eared owls out during the day but not barn owls. What's really weird is it happened again today at another location about 30 miles from this one. Another barn owl flew right up to me in direct sunlight.

Nothing wrong with a little lens lust now and then. I've been lusting for a 600mm for years but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Just thought I'd answer one question that came up in this thead. I waited awhile before I answered this so that I could do a fair comparision. From about a months worth of observations I would say my Minolta 300mm f/4.0 is a bit sharper than the Canon 400 f/5.6. Some of this percieved sharpness my be due to the AS of the 7D though as lens motion with the Canon gear might be causing some softness. But, my overall feeling is I got slightly sharper images out of the 300.
