Mine is from Jessops in the UK. It's around 3.5mm thick but only
vignettes slightly (just enough to annoy!!) on my D7.
Presumably thinner is better?

Good idea with the thinner ringI read that people using Kenko's 3 mm rings have no vignetting. So
yes, thinner is better. You can see my 5mm ring vegnettes more
