I got probably my sharpest ever FZ hummer shot yesterday. Bonus was a nice background. Just wish that little brach wasn't there...

The next few are a Red-shouldered Hawk I chased around a park for a while yesterday. Magnificent looking bird with those marbled patterns on the wings and reddish streaks on the chest. It was tough balancing the exposure through the sunilt portions of the hawk and the shady areas but I'm pretty happy with the results.

A couple of pics I thought were interesting. Taken along the trail while out on my walk...

with regard to the erant brach...

Never ceases to amaize me when anyone can get so many, so good shots so close to a hawk... If i don't get one prior to getting out of the car, usually in Ez with B300.. I usually don't get one.. no matter how quiet I try to sneak out the door furthest away from it & they never just move to the next tree neither... It usually disapears on the horizon....
Fine end to your year, i'd say...

Great shots as usual from you Ken! The hummer shot is really detailed, you could photoshop the branch out if you wanted to take the time to do it. IMO it would be worth the effort. The hawk shots are very good too!

Since we were talking about hawks,
I thought I'd show you what I was looking through my fz50 lense at 10 min ago.

The first is a true 100% crop from the iso 100 shot.

The next the original photo untouched.

BTW yes, it's a wild hawk, and ok, I was about 4-5 feet from it.

These were snapped a minute or two before it flew off.

Very beautiful hummer. Very sharp and nice composition. The branch is fairly easy to clone out.

If you post your image to the retouching forum, the magicians there will show you, and teach you, how to totally erase it from the picture.

Didn't even notice it until I reviewed the pics- oh well :)

I spent months sitting here in total envy of all the hawks Telecoder and SDWSP (Steve) have posted here and thought I would never get my chance. I finaly found a good spots where raptor sighting are fairly common. I can feel you pain though as I seem to have more where I spot them and before I can get focus lock or the exporure where I want it they are gone. Steven still has me beat in the FZ raptor in flight shots though and I doubt I'll ever catch up. You should see what I am getting with the DSLR though :)

Thank you!

And a Happy New Year to you as well!

Awesome, just be thankful for the branch without it you'd have
reached perfection and have nothing to aim for in 2007.
LOL. It's all in how you look at it I suppose :)
Possibly the best detailed bird image I've seen from an FZ.
Why thank you Sir! I'm still more than a little jealous of your Ketrel shot though...

Happy New Year!

I'll probably take the time to do it later. I have a bunch more I took today and if this remains the best I'll give it the treatment.
The hawk shots are very good too!
Glad you enjoyed them. Happy New Year!

Thanks Jarkko. I thought putting in the cloning work but got lazy. I'll probably update it later. Glad you enjoyed it and Happy new Year!
