Like many of you, I've been all about keeping our CF cards. I had a situation over the holiday that made me change my mind. I was getting tired of shooting mundane shots of our neices and nephews (my kids are all getting big) opening gifts, I decided to hand my 30D off to the person who actually wants those shots ... my wife. About 20 minutes later, to my horror, I saw my wife repeatedly jamming a CF card into the camera -- sideways. Needless to say after spending a good hour with a jewlers screwdriver carefully bending pins back into place I became a huge fan of SD. It would be nice if they would at least include both like on the 1 series cameras. Meanwhile my wife is now banned from changing memory cards!

We have both here: CF for my cameras, SD for my wife's and also for various other bits of hw we have around the house like mp3 players and the box that connects the PVR to the internet. I really have little preference apart from not wanting to have to replace them when I buy a new camera.

I do notice though that reading from my CF cards on my laptop drives the cpu to 100% and only reads at about 1MB/S whereas my wife's SD cards read much faster with lower cpu load...

Most cameras show you a picture of how to insert the card as do Canon dSLRs. My F10 doesn't show how to insert the xD card, but it won't even want to enter the slot if it is upside down. And a CF card sideways is so loose. I would suggest keeping her away from anything electronic and expensive. :)
