Hi

I have been experimenting with my new FL36 and E1. Can anyone tell me the best settings to use for fill-in flash on dull days? Having the camera set to auto or the flash icon tends to lead to the subject being lit fully by the flash with the background disappearing into murkiness. Should I be using slow sync? Also, I have had the flash set on TTL-Auto. Should I be using the FP mode?

Thanks

go to fourThirdsPhoto.com forums and click on "keepers". There's a very useful guide there for how to set up the FL-36 and FL-50 for different situations.

Just how I work, and based on the E500 and the FL50 (should make no difference).

1) Set manual on the camera

2) Set up the exposure and shutter speed you'd ideally like.

3) Adjust both until the meter is showing the number of stops under you'd like the flash to fill in for you - experiment. You'll find the ideal is higher than you would expect.

I've tried all the other agreed methods and don't like 'em.
