Canon Rebate?

I have seen on a number of occasions, how people deduct the Canon rebate from the initial cost of their new camera(s). I was under the impression that the rebate was only paid against additional purchases such as lenses, flash etc. I am considering the purchase of a new 30D (to replace my excellent D30) and would like to know if I have got this wrong? Am I entitled to "cash back" from Canon UK, just for purchasing the camera?? Having bought various Canon lenses and a 550EX recently, I can't say I will be buying any more lenses etc so the rebate will probably be no good for me?

I have to make a decision soon as I understand the offer closes on the 31st Dec.

If I read the terms and conditions correctly, you get the rebate retrospectively (i.e cashback) on the camera once you've purchased it. This should help answer your questions:

Thanks Mark,

Strange that the offer expires on the last day of Jan 07...... I suppose this adds to the speculation that a replacement WILL be launched around Feb?

Apologies if this has been said before!

And I was told by the rebate center that all purchases must be on the same sales receipt for the double rebate offer. I had two separate purchases and they said they did not qualify for the double rebate. So I sent two separate forms in which they said was allowed. The first was Nov 6 and it still does not register on the rebate site.

If thats the case then you need to quote their own Terms and Conditions to them, of which I'll post below:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Purchase any one of the eligible products listed and receive single rebate

value. Purchase two different double rebate eligible products and receive double the rebate amount on each.

To be valid, all products eligible for rebate must be purchased during the promotion period. Products comprising

double rebate offer may be submitted separately (see claim form instructions), however, all customer information

provided for the initial rebate MUST match exactly the customer information provided on the subsequent

rebate submissions. Failure for the information to match exactly will result in the second submission being

treated as a first, or initial rebate, and the double rebate will not be issued. Purchase(s) must take place

between October 15, 2006 and January 13, 2007. Claims must be postmarked by February 15, 2007 and

received by March 1, 2007, after which time the P.O. Box will be closed and your claim form returned by the

Post Office. One offer per eligible product purchased. Offer good on new products only. Used or refurbished

products are not eligible. Claim forms must be filled out completely and legibly. Only purchases by an end

user customer from a participating authorized Canon U.S.A. dealer or reseller in the 50 United States, the

District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, or on a United Sates military base are eligible. Valid for legal residents

of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and United States military bases only. This claim

form must be filled in completely and accompanied by a copy of the customer portion of the warranty card with

imprinted model and serial number, cut-out of the original UPC code and serial number from product box, and

a copy of the original sales receipt(s) from a participating authorized Canon U.S.A. dealer or reseller with store

name, purchase date, product model name(s), and price paid clearly legible to be valid. Requests to P.O. Boxes

will not be honored. Any misrepresentation or fraudulent information voids this offer and documentation will

not be returned. Canon reserves the right to substantiate claims and request additional identification and/or

documentation. Use of fictitious names or addresses could result in federal prosecution for U.S. Mail Fraud.

This offer cannot be combined with any other Canon offer or promotion. Not responsible for printing or typographical

errors. No responsibility is assumed for late, mutilated, illegible, or misdirected claim forms. Please

retain a copy of all documents sent. No claims against “lost” materials will be honored unless accompanied

by proof of receipt of claims (e.g. certified mail) and copy of all documentation. Please allow 60 days for

processing of claims. Rebate check will only be mailed to a street address in the 50 United States, the District

of Columbia, or Puerto Rico (no P.O. boxes), or to a valid AP/FPO address for a United States military base.

Rebate checks are void if not cashed within 90 days of issuance and will not be reissued. Offer void where

taxed, restricted, or otherwise prohibited by Federal, State or Local law. Dealers, distributors and other

resellers of Canon U.S.A., Inc. are not eligible for this offer. © 2006 Canon U.S.A., Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Cash value 1/100 of 1¢.

I already sent off my first rebate for the 30D and I'll be sending in another for the 580EX probably tomorrow. I fully intend on getting $230 back from Canon.

Not true for the UK this is an American thing we only get the £100 cashback

Yes, you will get £100 cashback, theres a big sticker on the box that tells you so, BUT its not directly from Canon, its from their agents acting on their behalf, and you will wait about a month (I did)

That 31st December thing is for the vouchers also in the box, theres money of lenses, 580Ex etc, I wouldn't worry about those though.... to late now.

Hope this clears things up

PS, I think we might see a 40D or whatever in February, thats why Canon is pushing this promotion (and I speak from personal experience)
