Rules for Challenge # 10
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
1) The Challenge is open ("open period") from 02/01/02 6:00 pm EST to
02/07/02 11:59 pm EST
2) The “Eligible” Photo Category is open only to Sony digiCams and only for photos taken during the "open period" of this Challenge. The “Exhibition” Photo Category is open to all Cameras and for
photos taken at any time. A gallery will be provided for each category, please post your photo in the appropriate category gallery.
3) You may post a total of three pictures in each Challenge category for a combined total of six photos.
4) Upload your photos to "pbase" with username "stfchallenge" and password "stfpost". * See footnote for uploading instructions.
5) For the “Eligible” category, entries should provide the Date the photo was taken, the Sony digiCam model used, and must include the name of the photographer. Entries lacking the name of the artist cannot be voted on? (Note. posting to the “Eligible” category indicates your willingness to accept the work of host for the next Challenge should your photo ‘win’.) If you are not willing to accept the role of host, you may post to the Exhibition category.
8) VOTING will follow after the end of challenge. For easier tabulation, voting will take place on a "new"' thread starting 02/08/02 at 12:00am EST and be open to 11:59pm of the next day (i.e., voting will be open Friday through Saturday), i.e., voting will be open for approximately 48 hours.
The Announcement of winners.
I will announce the winner and runners-up in both categories shortly after completion of voting. Additionally I will post a listing of the top ten photographs in both categories. The winner of the "Eligible" category or the runner-up in this category ( if the winner is not able to perform as host) will host the next Challenge. That Challenge will start no later than two days after the winner is announced. Anyone, not just posters, can vote. Voters should cast 3 votes in each category, (That is, three votes for the "Eligible” category and three votes for “Exhibition” category photos.) You cannot vote for your own photo.
9) Honorable mention voting. There are so many outstanding photos in each Challenge, that it is hard to select just three in each category. Thus, you may cast as many additional honorable mention votes as seems appropriate to you. These will not be tallied, but serve as encouragement to noteworthy artists.
10) There are no limitations to creativity using any photo editing software.
11) Criticism. Challenge posters enjoy sharing their photos, and we all enjoy encouragement and compliments. However, not all may seek unrequested citicism of their photos. We want to keep the Challenge as enjoyable for all as possible. Thus, if you are a poster who seeks critical comments on how others would have done your photo differently, please place the words “Critical comments appreciated” in the caption section of the edit image page. If you would like to leave a comment, please be sure you see the above before you leave your message if your comments are of a critical nature. It is the sole discretion of the artist to keep or delete any critical comments about their own photographs.
12) Gallery integrity. Please do not change the structure of the gallery or the the order of photos after they are posted. New photos should be appended to the end of the list of existing photos. This reduces confusion and allows viewers to continue viewing where they left off. Also, please not change a photo’s title or format, unless you are the photographer who made that photo. If you are replacing an earlier posting of a photograph with a revised copy of the same photograph, please place the revised copy in the same position the original was located.
13) In all cases the decisions of the host are final in matters relating to their Challenge.
