I have already posted this question in the Nikon D200 forum. But I thought that, if the D200 can't do it, maybe somebody in this forum knows of any other DSLR that would allow me to customize the viewfinder in the following ways:
  • To erase the autofocus markings,
  • To create custom gridlines (or even custom framelines?)
Thanks.

EOS 1D series.
CF-10 (1) turns off the autofocus rectangles.

Many focus screens to choose from also:
Ec-H Laser-matte with scale
Ec-D Laser-matte with Grid
would be the 2 to check out.

You can almost always turn off the AF indicators on all DSLR's, read your manual.

As far as custom grid lines, manual focusing prisms, etc, got to http://www.brightscreen.com and order whatever your imagination can come up with. I use their Proscreens with 8x10 gridlines on all my cameras and love them. I also use their Proscreens with Landscape assist grid lines and love them too..
