There is a good deal of adverse comment on the 707 over saturating reds, to my eye this is not the case.

Use the PREVIEW button before posting your pitcha, Ken. :)

The saturation can be sometimes be contained with adequate lighting and exposure. And of course, post-processing is a great skill to have. But at the same time, you'd need to see head-to-head comparisons to really see what some have been talking about.

Sometimes the difference is negligible, and other times the DA performs with a very strong red color. The reviews and users have noted it.

It's nothing to get worried about. The camera can still be used to great advantage! If anything, some of us who have noted it simply want the camera to get as close to out-of-the-box perfection as possible. Our focus now is on future products. The DA of today is what it is. :)
I obviously have not got this sussed, I'll try again.

You weren't using the actual address for the image itself. Click on the image properties, and copy the URL in question. NO typing necessary.

The preference or objection to the sony saturation is purely subjective. Personally, for me life is vibrant with colors. I'm looking at the red cup on my table right now, and you know, it is red. Very red. I want it to look red, not balanced against the wood table its on. I looked at an Oly 2100UZ when shopping, and one its pros from Phil was that it has neutral color saturation. Why is neutral color saturation a pro? Doesn't that imply that the colors are kind of balanced against each other so none are prominent? To me that doesn't make sense. Red is a very strong color, I like to see it as such. Obviously, there are times when it get to be too much, but that's fixable.

Your phone booth example is a great one. Jim

Many thanks Amy and Ulysses, it is now clear, as is fairly obvious I am not computer literate

Ken.

you need to type in the entire path to the image: like this:

http://image.pbase.com/u7/kwas/upload/1061572.Colles.jpg

and it will automatically embed in your post.

To get the path to your image, look at it, right-click, select
properties, and it's listed next to Address. You can highlight it,
right-click and select "copy"

Hope that helps.

This isn't something you judge with a single picture.

There are plenty of examples in this forum of shots with clipped reds. Clipped reds are an objective fact, not a matter of opinion.

As Ulysses points out, however, there are relatively specific sorts of situations that bring this about. How annoying this will be will be depend upon the types of pictures you like to take.
