Hello Everybody,

We have been chatting on this site for quite a while now, over a year in my case not taking into account my personal abstanence this past few weeks.

My thought is this, I wonder what you look like, yes you! I mean the regulars who come into the Nikon SLR site just about every day. So I suggest we post a portrait image of ourselves to show what we look like. I did this on another alternative photography site and it was a hoot.

I posted an image on my site that my wife took of me a few years ago. I was waiting for a Summer moon rise with the 2000MM reflex Nikkor. I scanned it from a paper print and will try and link it now.

So let's see you, remember you have a digital camera so let's use them and post a self portrait so we can get to see each other.

Heck we are image makers after all, are we not? So why are we always only using words to communicate with each other?

Here's couple d1x shots of me taken myself using the timer.

I run a lot and aways carry my d1x. The first shot was taken Aug 18, 2001 halfway home from the small town I live outside of. The second shot was taken Aug 8, 2001 -- the first day I had my d1x! I was refreshing the batteries at home but took the d1x to work and shot this using the AC power cord. I took this picture to compare to a similar picture taken months ago with a "consumer" digital camera. You can faintly see the older picture on the left computer monitor. BTW, I'm a professional computer geek but only an amateur photographer. The second picture was taken in my small computer business, which is located in the basement of a video store.

Here is a shot of me and my daughter taken by my 5 year old. One of his first shots with my d1x...

Hello Everybody,

Looking good, many thanks for taking the trouble to do it, we all appreciate it and seeing each other.

But where are the rest of you Nikon SLR skallywags?

Let's see you, its all in the interest of building this Nikon SLR online community in to one of the best forums on the Askey site!

A more realistic picture of me and my daughter "Lilou" a few months ago.

Everyone all dressed up makes me feel like a bum! I don't make many images of myself but my wife made a couple of me last summer. Here I am in all my glory hehe.

It does give you a hint to my personality though. I was photographing a dancing Reddish Egret which if you look close you can see it in the background between my head and the camera.

Just so you do not think I am really weird and like to sit in the ocean with my camera for the fun of it, I posted an image I made of the Reddish Egret below also. Great idea Stephen and I hope to see more as I like attaching a face to the text.

It is amazing that I have tons of photographs of everybody from my family,
my wife's family, my friends, their families, but could not find a decent
photograph of myself. Probably because people who use my camera

to take picture of me, know anything about photography. Do any of you have the same problem???

In any case, here is the photo of me, which I had to crop, and clone out
to make it ok

Here is my ugly face.
Was taken by Canon girl at Comdex few years back.
Possibly the first consumer picture taken by Canon Pro 70
a year before I could buy it (was available to buy)
This shot actually promted me to buy this camera.

Hello Uwe,

Reminds me of a photograph I once saw of famous photographer Cartier Bresson accepting a University Degree with his hat held in front of his face. This mainly to protect its exposure from all the photographers gathered there to record the event.

Apparently he thought any press noterity would ultimately spoil his street work.

Is that what's going on here Uwe ; )
