G2's latest firmware - any sillent upgrades?

Hi all,

After searching the forum I couldn't find much about the new G2 firmware except for some claiming that the exposure is more accurate after the upgrade. So for those who have upgraded, is it worth doing it and have you noticed any difference since?

Please don't start this again...

If you search "G2 firmware", you'll find a couple of threads, one of them had about 150 posts, where you can get everybody's take on the upgrade...

I clearly remember those long threads (how could we forget), but I just did a search out of curiousity and I couldn't find them either. Very frustrating to people who want to do searches and not re-ask the same questions. If you can find these doing a search, let me know the method that you use.

I can't find the threads either! The search does not return any messages that have been updated since Jan 17. I've noticed every now and then the search is disabled because the index is being recalculated. I think that needs to be done again.

Herbert, I think he did read your msg ... and he was trying to help. There are lots of opinions and guesses on the forum, even some well-meaning home-brew tests, all reporting different things. I didn't see any real consensus forming. Nothing is likely to change, unless a tester with access to two G2 versions and sophisticated equipment takes up the challenge. If you aren't satisfied with that, ask Canon. I'm sure they would be more than happy to tell you to read their official release. Please don't take this as a tirade, but personally I would do the upgrade for the battery fix. Why not? GKL

Hi,

Although Canon didn´t said much on the upgrade (unless the well known battery charging fix), it´s very obvious they made several other changes. I haven´t had yet the oportunity to make in dept comparisons, but i imediatly noticed a faster startup to replay mode (the powershot logo takes much less time). This wasn´t published but they really did it, so i assume they have done other things in secret.

About exposure and focus i have to be honest: i have NO COMPLAIN on G2 and so, i am still satisfied it they let it as it was. If it may be improved, then it´s welcome, but really, no issue on this.
