"The words life and death seem to oppose each other, but in
reality all of creation rests on these two words. Life cannot be
understood without death, nor death without life; the two walk
together, inextricably linked. As soon as life appears, it is
immediately threatened by death. But death itself never has the
last word: as soon as it has accomplished its work, life gains
the upper hand again, but in another form. Taken separately,
then, the words life and death have no real meaning. It is life
that gives meaning to death and death that gives meaning to
life. This is why we will only truly understand life when we
pass through the portals of death one day and gain access to a
new form of life."

I talked with my cousin yesterday. Fist time in months as she
cannot talk long due to pulmonary fibrosis. She is on heavy oxygen
all the time.
She cannot walk very far in her house. She told me her condition is
"rapidly deteriorating." Yet she made me laugh until I cried. Great
humor.
HERE IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP.
She daydreams all the time. Visits places in her mind. She loves
hummingbirds but they have gone for the winter. If everyone will
PLEASE post a pic I will print them all out and give them to her
for her to visit. Anything, anywhere, just somewhere you love or
your favorite photo. I will sign your name. Please include a first
name and your country.
I hate xmas. But this is a chance of all of us to do something
really special who knows this is her last xmas.
This is NOT TO BE A SAD EVENT. It is a chance to give of yourself.
The real meaning of xmas. NO ONE can give her this but us.
Will you please join me in giving her something special?
THANK YOU

Here are a couple of my favorite hummingbird shots. I wish I could have dressed them up for Christmas with a frame etc. But I have something funky happening on my computer that will not allow me to open PSPX OR CS2!!! Urrrghhh. Anyway here are a couple off smugmug. I hope you and your cousin find many things to smile and laugh about this holiday season.

If these photos and responses make your cousin feel one-tenth as good as they make me feel, her condition should improve. What a wonderful group

of people we have on this forum. Is there any email address we could send photos to directly so as to eliminate any middle-man delays? Best wishes to you and to your cousin.

Here is one that has Three Hummingbirds fighting over a feeder.

Hope this can bring a bit of cheer to the situation - Rod

CJ,

-what you're going is a pretty tough tough ask and in some respects just being able to carry on as normal is as much as you can do, so I hope you can take some heart from just doing that....
  • for your cousin, a couple of views..
  • this one from the Yarra River in Melbourne just up from where I work , with the rowing club sheds and the Art Centre Spire in the background... its a very nice place on a warm evening in summer....

...and Loch Carron in Scotland, where we had the privillige of visiting a few years ago ( taken on my little nikon3100 at the time...)

  • Xmas greetings from down-under to you & yours.
Cheers Ron
