I was going to photograph the owls this morning but saw how beautiful the frost was in the trees, so I decided to make a little detour on the deer island, to try to catch some deers in the frost..

If I did not say "wow" a thousand time, I did not say it once. It was a very magical ambiance.. My photos does not even begin to translate the beauty of it, but I still wish to share this moment.

Hope you like it:

And I still managed to get the owl awake..

Thats amazing, great shots
I love morning frost like that
Makes everything look so crisp
How far away where you when you photographed the deer?

I have a photographic memory, but I always seem to have the lens cap on.

not too far, probably about 30 feet. I was at 200mm with the 80-200 F2.8 L. I shots all these with that lens, except the owl which I did with my 400mm F5.6 L.

First post in this forum, but I had to speak up after seeing these photos. Wow. One day I hope to be able to take pictures such as these.

Thanks for sharing.

Some people do feed them although it is illegal. As for me, I did feed them one apple once and of course I got cought by the ranger right away. I can't do anything without getting cought :) so now I don't feed them. I promiss the ranger I would not do it any more.

Very beautiful Daniella. It is interesting to see the frost around the mouths of the deer. Although beautiful to us, the cold must be tough on them. The weather here in east Texas has been in very warm for the last week - in the 70's. It is nice to see a little frost.

Although they are all technically good, #5 stands out from the rest as being much better composed than the other ones and translates much better the mood of that beautifull morning. I find the others too buzy for my taste, especially after seing #5.

yep..but it was hard to be picky..this thing last about half and hour..so I had just about that time to find the deers and they usualy disapear inside the woods quickly..so I have to find another spot with deers.

I did 3 places in about 30 to 45 minutes then it was all melting. But I think the first one translate better the mood of what I saw..because there the ice is more obvious in that one. In the shot #5, the deer is really the subject and you don't see too much of the frosted vegetation..whereas in the first one the vegetation is a lot more obvious and the frost too.

I think they both have different mood, but what really made me go wow is the vegetation covered with frost..deers are a bonus :)

and beautiful frost makes great photo's. The gold, brown silver and blue tones always work for me. Well captured. The owl shot is good too, if only you could get it a little clearer, the light on it is great though!

eventualy I will get a good clear shot. I go each day. The light was poor, it's the fill flash with the ultra-bounce that really makes the light.
