Hi Folks,

I just bought a K10D 2 days ago and I just found out a strange noise when changing the body position ( especially when changing its position (rolling) from left bottom to left up )
It is like if a internal part was sliding inside.

Is it normal to have moving parts, like this inside the K10D body ?

Thx

Fred

Guess your shakereduction works then.

Its the ccd moving which is normal.

The K10D does have moving internal parts.

The shake reduction system in the K10D (and K100D) works by having the digital sensor "floating free" inside a magnetic field, the magnetic field moves the sensor up/down, sideways and rotational, in order to compensate for camera shake caused by the user.

Now, the SR system is also used by the dust removal function in the K10D, where the magnets smash the sensor to the side and thus dust particles is leaving, and fastened on an adhesive strip. (it sounds though, but it is quite gentle actually, it will not damage the sensor! :) ).

Don't worry about the sound, the sensor is moving inside and it should do that... because it's loose. It's perfectly normal. If it weren't loose, it couldn't be moved by the shake reduction system!

Take care
R

Thanks Roland for this detailed answers.
It is reassuring me to know that it is not a problem. :-)

I'm also very happy to have found a so active Pentax SLR community.

Thx again
