Dear all,

is it worth to consider G2+lensmate+49/55+B28 configuration?

I was offered B-28 instead of A-28 which matches lensmate adapter without step-up ring. B-28 has the same optical properties as A-28 but is bigger.
Does it produce significant vignetting?
OTOH some of us use B-300 with the same step-up ring.....--Mac-iek

I would really like to know more about this. Anybody have an answer?

I use the OLY B300 with my G2 and I really love the combination - it's world classs!!!. But I want to have a good WA as well. IS the B28 or A28? as hard to find as the B300?

I think the A28 has been reasonably available in the past, and I also think it is cheaper than the B28. Its "native" 49mm/lensmate fit makes it attractive to me. I don't know if the B28 would work, but if I were you I'd try to find the A28 before settling.

eg,

it's quite obvious that A-28 is much more "attractive" for G2+lensmate owner. But all vendors/shops I have contacted till now offered me B-28 only. A-28 were always "not available".

Can anybody show us test pictures taken with A-28 and B-28 for comparison?

Have a nice day,

FYI, I just received the Olympus A-28 yesterday, and so far I am very impressed. It is a big piece of glass on the front of the G2/Lensmate, but not excessively heavy. The extra wide angle is not extreme (it's a 0.8x converter) but definitely helpful for a lot of shots. So far the quality and sharpness look excellent to me, although I have yet to do extensive testing. There is no vignetting at full wide with the A-28, Lensmate, and G2.

The best part is that the lens cost me only $79.95 (at least that seemed like a good price to me) from Focus Camera in Brooklyn, NY. They still have the lens in stock:

Good luck!

OK -- it seems there are no hard links possible on the focus camera site. sorry the last link doesn't work. Try this instead:

Go the the focus camera main page: http://www.focuscamera.com/

Then type the following (w/o quotes) into the search box: "olympus 28 is"

that should bring up the lens! (if you just search for "olympus a-28", you have to wade through dozens of pages of possibilities.)
