Photo with Raynox DCR-1850PRO tele converter

Thanks, Ivo, you did it for me. Next time I'll know. What do you think of the quality of the picture and the price?
I don't know how to specify the link so the picture shows in the
message. Please, somebody, explain this.
Remove the semicolon and add ".jpg"...
What do you think of this photo taken with the Raynox DCR-1860 tele
converter? I copied this shot from the Raynox web site. The lens
will cost $169 including a lens ring to fit the 707

I think the photo justifies the $169 price. I will be one of the first in line to purchase this lens. I can see no major flaws in it. Now if the picture is not true to par, then I will be one very pissed individual.

The only place I found that knows about this lens is called Distributor Sales, in Brooklyn, NY. Telephone 1 (800) 774-7282. Ask for Sam, extension 224. I was unable to find a web site.

Well, I think the lens is it´s price worth, even if the CA at the tummy of the tiger is quite prominent...

Take a look at the tile shots at Raynox, they are best suited for comparison purposes.

This site below will have them this week for $166. Free shipping.
Best price I've found. He also has the adapters for the F707.
Excellent communication. He is going to email me when they come into stock.

I found a web address for Distributor Sales: http://www.digitaletc.com .
They expect deliveries from Japan late in February. $169 price is
apparently already discounted.

Did you purchase eithr of these raynox lenses? I have been looking and comparing different lenses and I was impresses with these, and others on their website. So what's the verdict?

The only thing, for me, a 1.8x or 2x zoom doesn't justify $150, maybe a 5x. Anyone seen a teleconverter with a higher mag than 2.

Also, I have seen them on ebay.
How about this wide angle shot with DCR-6600PRO Pro-Wideangle lens
0.66X?

lonestar,

The 1850PRO isn't a very good teleconvertor. It has soft edges, adds quite a bit of CA (fringing/blooming) and is recommended to be used at F5.6 and above. It's OK for a "knock-around" tc. Like for sporting events when image quality isn't paramount. Or, possibly on top of a +4 close up lens for macro shots. Other than that, I'd suggest you look into the Oly TCON17, 14b or B-300. Or, the Sony HGD1758.

I'd also, advise you not to waste your money on the "titanium" krap you see on eBay. They aren't 2X they are closer to 1.4X and the image quality is poor. I don't believe you will find any TC's above 1.7X that yield a high quality image. Out of the thousands of forum posters here, no one has found one, yet.

BTW, I paid $104 for mine @ http://www.bugeyedigital.com

Here's a macro shot, from about 18 inches away, taken using the 1850 PRO on top of a +4 close up

1850PRO squirrel shot

It's not an awful lens. It's just not a real good lens.
