Hi all,
Here's some waterfall pictures!

My friend and I found this waterfall in the summer when we were looking for caves. We didn't have a camera with us at the time but we went back this weekend armed with an Uzi and got some great shots of this hidden beauty.

The area is shaped like a huge horse shoe with 50-100 foot cliffs on either side extending down the river about a mile or so. The terrain is extremely rough, with boulders strewn everywhere and slick with moss from the high humidity and low sunlight. The water fall itself is about 35 feet high and 10 feet across.

The sun was causing some really cool effects with the water dropplets that saturated the air.

It was well worth the trip back! Enjoy the pictures!

Wonderful pictures Kevin. Both are great, but I especially like the 2nd one. Love how the sun is reflecting on the droplets of water.

Kevin,

Well done. It looks like you are very comfortable with your new camera now! Do tell me where this is if you don't mind sharing your secret. I don't recognize it and would love to take a hike there someday. Have you seen Ozone Falls lately? I would expect it to be impressive with all the rain.

Hey Brian, thanks for the compliments. Yes I am getting used to the UZi now and I love it!

This waterfall is located in a remote area near the Muddy Pond Mennonite community in Livingston. The river we were on joins the Obed River a mile or so downstream. I would have to actually show you where it is personally because it's hard to find if you haven't been there before. It's not so great when there hasn't been any rain (we saw it in the summer) because the water goes down in a lower level "cave" in a few places. You can actually have a good flow, then 100ft downstream it's dry, then another 400ft and it's running again. It's a very interesting area!

We found a small cave back in the summer with 3 waterfalls in it and a white rat(albino) about 16 inches long to boot.

I wanted to go by Ozone on my way up to my friends this weekend but was pressed for time, I bet it's running good now! I might try and run up there sometime this week after this next batch of rain.

Seeya around,
Kevin

Kevin,

I especially like the second shot with the tree refracting the light. I think it may be a candidate for the contests at Steves or Best foto. Why not give it shot, you could win?
