Other than tech spec and reviews wb sites,, such as here and Steve's Digicams, anyone know of any Nikon 885 pages that people have built. Things they might show include, tips, tricks, recommendations for certain conditions, etc.

Nikon 885 out door pictures look great from all the sample pics I saw. There were NOT many indoors pics around.

Anyways, I just got my Nikon 885 today, and used it indoors all day long.

And I am not happy with it YET, but I got lots of reading to do.

I am not happy because my Olympus 2020 gives me much better, clearer, crisper (Non-grainy) types of people photos......

The Nikon 885 was a bit grainy, OFTEN..........occasionaly not
I'm a green horn to the camera, but I am sure it does get better. (I HOPE) lol

Anyway, any tips here too would be appreciated.

Ron,

Take a look at the few posts I have made here ... May be of some (but not much !) help ..

I have now got totally used to the 885 and have excellent results .. Definately need to think for yourself on exposure levels (and trick camera into taking nice bright shots with the half shutter depress) rather than just point and shoot.

I would also welcome any links to 885 pages, advice.

Finally, just installed "Thumbs+" software which is an absolutely brilliant buy !

One way that I recently discovered in taking nice indoor shots is to go into CSM mode, and change your exposure setting to M instead of P. Then put the flash on SLOW, and then change your f-stop so that it is 1/1000. Don't get too close to the subject, even if you're doing macro shots, just use the zoom. I got great results with this!

(Sorry if my terminology is coming out wrong, I'm new to the photography world).

By the way, could someone explain to me the difference between M and P in exposure? I don't know what they mean ... but I noticed that shots will come out too dark to use if you put it on M and don't use the flash.

Also, this is off topic but, is it just me or when I push the shutter down halfway to allow the camera to focus, a lot of times it will focus and then go out of focus before I can take the shot. Is this normal? I figure if it can bring the subject into focus at some point, it should be able to lock it, but sometimes it doesn't and I have to recompose the shot before taking it.

Thanks for any advice in advance!
