Does anyone know where to get the Impact DL150 battery. This is the one that B&H sells for the K10D, but they have been out of stock for weeks. Google turns up no other sources of supply.

Thanks,

Joe

I think that they are not aware that DLI50 and NP400 are exactly the same, Pentax does not advertize this info either. Pentax probably recommends only genuine Pentax battery:)

I have Impact for Pentax and it works fine.

Hi Wojtek,

How did you discover that the NP-400 would work for the K10D ?

This looks like the Very Best Replacement for the Pentax K10D battery which I believe is rated at 7.4 Volts and 1650mAh and the Impact DL150 is rated at 1700mAh and this Impact NP-400 is rated at 1750mAh.

Looks like they ALL have the Same Case & Contacts so this should work fine... (1750mAh is a Bonus)...

I just Ordered one from B & H and it was in Stock... Total Gamble was ~ $24 with shipping...

I'm Banking your Recommendation is Right On !

Thanks & Happy Holiday Seasons !

Several people on this forum reported NP400 being the same as Pentax battery and working fine with K10D.
So I just checked the Minolta NP400 replacement at B&H.

Thanks wjwoj,

I just got my Soligor 2X Auto Tele Converter to fit P/K Pentax Mount...

So Far I can't get it to work with my Tamron Lenses...
My K10D just Blinks "F - -" on it's Top Panel after I attach this converter.

Any Ideas on Making it work ?

Just get the Impact replacement for Minolta NP400 (at B&H).
My only concern is that although they are very close, they are NOT identical. In fact, Impact went through the trouble to create a new plastic case molding for the Pentax battery. Why would they not use the NP-400 clone directly? It would save them A LOT of money!

Check out the images, there are some differences in the indentations. They are minor, I am more concerned if there is any difference we can't see. Would the "plug it in and it works!" test be adequate?

It's kind of interesting that this battery supplier Rowa offer differnt ampere hours for NP-400. http://www.rowa.co.jp/cabinet/product_list.cgi?key=np-400 (in Japanese) The original KM NP-400 has 1500mAh, but this one using Sanyo cells has 1620mAh. http://www.rowa.co.jp/cabinet/form.cgi?no=1529 And this one using Toshiba has 1400mAh. http://www.rowa.co.jp/cabinet/form.cgi?no=760 Despite the differences, these batteries can be used as NP400 replacement. (BTW, in case you crave for the most trustworthy third-party batteries for NP400, perhaps this one would be a right choice. http://www.efunctional.com/mxldc3470.html (in English) It's made by Maxell, a well-reputated battery supplier.)

Hi lak,

It hard to know the story on the case changes... This could just be a Modification to the initial injection molds for better hot-material flow.

Considering that these are the Same Battery Type & Overall Same Case Profile the Extra mAh rating should be Nothing More than a Bonus...
The Voltage is the Same 7.4 Volts DC

Battery Charges are seldom engineered with Super Tight component tolerances so this is not likely an issue eighter...

For ~ $24 bucks I took a chance...

Are you certain that your teleconverter translates all electrical signals and has the necessary pass through for the connectors. It seems it makes your tamron into a manual lens... You have to enable aperture ring in menu and set the aperture using aperture ring (off A position) and use M mode and green button to measure exposure just like with manual lens IMHO, but I can be wrong.
Take care

Even though it Says "Auto" on the Lense, I don't see Any Electrical Contacts on this 2X TeleConverter.

I have been trying to Make It Work in Manual Mode...

Do you know why my Top Display blinks "F - -" ?

It seems to be Looking for a F-Stop Number but I can't find any way to Input one !

Any Ideas ?

Your lens with teleconverter attached works just as any manual lens (ie like my M50 1.4) - top display shows F-- as the camera does not know the aperture you set using aperture ring (no info provided by lens to the camera). To use this setting of lens/teleconverter you have to set using aperture ring to permitted in the menu (custom setting page 210 in the manual).

To meter set the aperture with the ring, press the green button to meter and use M mode.

The auto in TC name means there is mechanical aperture coupling via TC - aperture would stop down when taking picture.
I hope it helps. Search this forum on info about using manual lenses.

Thanks wjwoj !

Yah... I found that in the K10D operating manual too & Got Everything Working ( Just Before I read your posts )...
Thanks also for the Tip on How to use the K10D's Metering in Manual Mode.

This is my 1st Pentax dSLR Camera so I've got a bit of a learning curve...

Thanks Again for your assist !

PS : It's an Amazing Amount of Zoom Magnification when I put that 2X and 300mm back to back - And Seems Quite Clean as well... ( Not Bad for 900mm @ 35mm Equi )

.... here in Australia - 2 units for the equivalent of US$14 each delivered to my door - made in China. Charged one up and it's blazing away in the K10D now. I guess time will tell if they're reliable and keep up with the original batteries for shots per charge.

I don't have one (yet), but I did see a workmate insert the battery into his K10D for the first time.

It was a very snug fit, so much so that when he first attempted to insert it (and he was doing the right way), I wondered for a moment if he had the correct battery. On the basis of that observation, I would suggest that if it is not the correct battery, it is not going to fit.

Just my 2c worth ...

The generic NP-400 from B&H works fine in the K10D. I charged it with the pentax charger and have taken over a hundred pics with it, no problems.

FWIW, Impact is the B&H house brand. you'll never find it anywhere else. the Minolta replacement battery works but is lower capacity.

Herb...

Same form factor and voltage (7.4), but the NP-400 has 1500 mAh, while the Pentax D-LI50 comes in at 1620 mAh. As I understand batteries, the higher figure for mAh means migher capacity. There are a lot of NP-400 substitutes for sale, but they are generally 1500 or 1600 mAh. One rated at 1700 or 1750 should give more shots per charge.
