I search for a gps device which works with my mac, it must be an cheap one. I just need this for my photo tour. No trekking or any tours in the arktis or route navigation.

The Sony gps cs 1 may be the cheapest, but it seems that this one doesn´t work with a mac. Yes, I can use Virtual PC but it is painfully slow on my powerbook.

Does anybody got a garmin/magellan device which works with a USB/Seriell adapter? Does it works with problems? Does it works with gpsphotolinker? If so I could buy a nice not so expenisive one on ebay.

What is your solution while working with gps and a mac?

Garmin made a press release early in the year about bringing mac support. So I've waited, the year is almost over and no mac support except for some random software they sell. Which is making me mad. I don't want to buy a unit with the hope it is later supported. Since you know it won't be. They will just launch a new model instead and offer support from there forward.

Garmin GPSes are supported on the Mac via third party software (some of it free). Only the RS323 cable is supported though, so you need an adapter. Map upload doesn't work, of course.

I'm not happy about Garmin not following through on their Mac promise either.

No question -- it's EXTREMELY annoying when I want to load maps on my GPS too... that requires booting my poor Mac Mini into Windows so I can use Garmin's map software. They REALLY need to support the Mac, as they promised. It shouldn't even be that hard to do (seeing as the freeware developers can do it).

You can make it work in the meantime though, more or less.

I have a copy of GPSPhotoLinker, and I've been meaning to try it out. I haven't yet, though.
