Lotsa Used Canon EF Lenses at B&H, Hurry!

Not worth it. The 24-70 is $999 and I can get it new after rebate for $69 more. So, no way.

Yesterday that somebody snapped up, saved $1000. B&H is a great resource for used lenses.

Man, someone took the 400 5.6 for $899! I'm actually in the market for that lens. Coulda saved $200!

I'm wondering though, like everyone else, if the lenses were returned. Also, is there a warranty?

I think Henry Pozner of BH said at one point that returned lenses are shipped back to Canon. Used lenses come with BH's 90 day warranty.

Most likely these lenses are all in perfect condition and come in a brown Canon box packed in custom molded styrofoam. Pristine condition typically.

I have played the refurb game with B&H before and can relate my experiences.

For the most part what I received was in like new condition and functioned flawlessly. I did get one lens that was perfect but just needed to be properly calibrated. I called B&H to see if they could get it serviced for me and I was told that they could only return my money (and when they received the lens they sent it right back to Canon) or I could try to have it fixed myself. I wanted to keep the lens so I sent it in to the factory service center and was told that since it was a refurb lens that I would have to pay the fee to have it calibrated which pretty much amounted to more than I had saved by buying the refurb. In the end the lens went back to B&H and I assume back to Canon.

I believe that beyond that B&H gives you their 90 day warranty which pretty much amounts to you getting a refund (once you have returned the defective lens) if something goes wrong. I assume that again a refurb lens would go back to Canon.

I hope this helps someone.

not much interesting though and prices are not too apealing either.

I prefer to look at Adorama for used lens, they are great and usualy have better prices. KEH is ok too but they have higher price.

recently KEH had a vew 80-200 F2.8 L. this is a fantastic lens. only negative is that Canon does not make the parts for it anylonger, so if it breaks one must find a shop that can repair it.

it's a sturdy lens though.

LOL - UG is an intersting way of describing a product!

UG = ""Ugly" Very rough looking. Multiple impressions in metal, excessive finish loss and brassing are likely. Glass will have marks, fungus or haze that will probably affect picture quality."
KEH is ok too but they have higher price.

I have never seen a used lens -or camera- on B&H that is really worth its price. usually they're always 60 or 100 bucks less... and that 100 bucks in the best cases.
