Hello,

I'd like to find a place to build a free web site that I could post pictures for my family and friend to come and look at. It would have to be fairly simple as I'm not very computer educated. Can anyone guide me in a direction?
Thanks,

Does your Isp provide free webspace ?

If not and you are in the U.K. you can sign up with another server which does, and only dial up to them to use the webspace.

Hi Jerry,
There's the answer then...............use your current ISP.

There are many packages out there that you can use to build a website, and lots of tutorials on line.
Basically a website is just a bunch of pages linking to each other.

Don't worry about having to learn HTML coding, as most packages are WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) i.e you type something into a page and you can see straight off what it will look like.

Jerry,

If all you want to do is post pictures, and have your friends and family be able to easily view them (and maybe even order prints), I'd suggest using Sony's ImageStation (www.imagestation.com), or ofoto (www.ofoto.com), and also http://www.pbase.com .

There are a plethora of other such sites out there. You may want to take a look at ZDNet's review and comparison of some: http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,2627332,00.html

Or take a look at Google's index of photo sharing sites:

http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Web_Applications/Virtual_Disk_Drives/Photo_Sharing/?tc=1/

I've been using ImageStation, and I love it. It's great - just what I need for sharing my pictures with my friends and family overseas. See http://www.imagestation.com/member/?name=henchook .

Jerry, I currently like pbase.com. It's fairly simple to use and real easy for your friends and family to find/view your pictures. I did have one on MSN, but one had to go search for the photo album to view pictures. I see you have gotten a few ideas already.
