Pentax USA has its headquarters in Golden, Colorado and I live in Golden. They recently moved in a new building just constructed in downtown Golden which is right across the street from the old post office. Since I was going to post office anyway, I decided to visit their office and see if they welcome the public at all. They are located on the third floor and upon exiting the elevator a receiptionist is waiting. Her phone was ringing constantly and she said she would be with me in a minute. I walked around the lobby and waited. They have a glass case with 5 or 6 past and current Pentax cameras, a few posters/ads on the walls, some chairs to sit in, and glossy Pentax photo books laying out. Kind of like a doctors waiting area. In between phone calls I was able to tell the receiptionist that I would like a brochure for the new K10D. After a few more calls she handed me brochures for all their current digital cameras. As I attempted to ask another question the phone rang, and she handed me a postcard with the Pentax customer service number listed on it and basically said please call them with any questions. So in short, their office is really not setup to deal with the public. I was kind of hoping it might be possible to actually hold and play with a demo K10D, but no such luck.

Does it mean it's their showroom in the office? In Japan, they have a showrrom and headoffice in different places. This is the headoffice.

; (They have R&D center on the same site.

; ) And this one is their showroom.

; Whenever I visit the showroom, I witness more than several visitors who seem to enjoy the showrrom with reading latest magazines, seeing displayed photos, handling Pentax gears, and consulting with staff about the gears.

Another question that I was wondering about: Do you service Pentax camera's at the Golden location. Or at least if I was having a problem would I be able to drop it off there?

Thanks again,
Richard

Richard-

Pentax has their service facility in Westminster on I-25 and 120th Avenue.

According to the web site (or maybe it's on their telephone answering message) the service department "no longer accepts drop offs".

You know, the thought crossed my mind that they might want to borrow some of my cameras for display some time - I have a pretty good cross-section of bodies from the early sixties to today. But considering transportation, insurance, and theft issues maybe that wouldn't be a good idea...
