Apparently this online store has gone downhill. I had bought some equipment from them a few years ago and had a good experience. However, a friend of mine just ordered a D70s from them and received a gray market version...

It even states on their website that it would be a U.S.A. model with a U.S.A. warranty. Now she is going through the hassle of getting them to take the camera back. She has already spent 3 hours total on the phone with them. I feel bad for her. She is just a young kid who loves photography and had saved up the money for this camera over the last several months.

I think BuyDig.com will correct their error. I have purchased 2 cameras from them and they were fast and easy to deaql with. They even refunded me money when the camera model price was reduced a couple of days after I purchased mine from them. My email to them prompted a quick refund straight back into my credit card account.

Just an update... Ibuydigital refuses to exchange the camera. We confirmed by calling Nikon that the camera is indeed gray market and will not be covered under warranty. She can't even charge the batteries because the charger is a European model and she cannot plug it in. They said they would send her a charger, but that was supposed to have been delivered on Saturday. She hasn't received it yet.

We are reporting them to the better business bureau and definitely going to give them a bad rating on reselleratings.com. Sad, but thats about all we can do and they know it. This whole thing disgusts me...

Certainly get your credit card company involved, but be sure you have some documentation of what was promised in the purchase, what the expectations were, what was actually delivered and the manner in which the seller dealt with the issue. In the absence of some sort of proof of a sale gone awry, your credit company will be of no help and you will be at the losing end of a "I said, they said" situation.

There HAS to be something she can do

a) she did not receive the unit she purchased

b) they offer a 10 days return with a 5% restocking fee (she might want to take the 5% loss)

Call the Credit Card company and have them cancel the charges.
