I have read serveral threads where people have spoken of "receiving a discount offer to purchase Nikon Capture 2" with their D1x purchase. I did not receive one with my D1x. Am I overlooking something? I bought from B & H and the camera was sealed when I received it. --Bob P.

I got no offer in my box either. Paid the full price but have not regreted going to the nefs. MUCH smaller file with out loosing any info. NC2 also has some remarkable tricks up it sleeve. I then conver to .tiff and do the rest in photoshop--Greg GebhardtJacksonville, Florida

The NC2 rebate was offered when the camera was first introduced and ended several months afterwards.

Bob,

Were those recent posts? It was my understanding that discount was a limited offer when the D1X's were initially shipped the middle of last year. Maybe someone else remembers better than I the details of the discount.

Bob, my camera came yesterday from b&h and wall-la! no rebate. no one is crying any tears for us cause we paid alot less than the folks we keep asking for advice from..

Steve,

I can not remember exactly when I read these post, it probably was several months ago. I am sure those of us that received the $500 discount are not going to get a lot of tears shed for us by those that were able to buy the camera earlier.

Guys,

I got my camera only 2 weeks ago and got the $500.00 rebate and paid $200.00 for NC2. I suppose I can't complain.

Bob,

As one of those early purchasers that paid $5350, I agree that the lack of a discount for NC2 at this point is a big deal. There's always a price to pay for being the first kid on the block with a new toy. :-)

Especially when Nikon makes you pay for gear that other manufacturers would normally supply with such a major purchase. Like, for instance a firewire cable, and a foot for remote use of an SB28DX. Canon puts one in with each of it's high end Speedlights.

Hi

yes the program was for 30 days from the the day you boght it.the price was $99 for the nc2.
you had to cut the the box and mail it to Nikon.
I was not willing to so I am too picky about my stuff.

I called Nikon they where very nesty to me.I mailed the papers plus a copy of my box and never recived the program.
my small revange will be that I am buying the software for $2 in malesia.

I spent virtually all of my savings on the $5350 D1x plus the $1350 for lenses (I've had Canon for 30 yeras).

Now Nikon wants another $200 for the software to make it practical?

This infuriates me. I may end up buying it, but only if Bibble doesn't do the job on my Mac. I wish QImage was available for the Mac. I'd rather buy both of those ($200 total) than spend another dime on a Nikon program I feel I should have been given.

This is terrible PR for a top of the liine camera company.

Though I have to admit that I'm genuinely grateful for having been given a PAPER manual that I can read. The type is really small, but at least I can take it with me and not read it from a PDF file like the Coolpix manuals.
