This past weekend I ventured into my local camera shop and walked out with a new Nikon D50 and the Nikkor AFS-S DX 18-70mm lens. As well as the ExtremeIII 1gb SD (tossed into deal for $30 off, or same price as existing extremeII's), $7 cleaning cloth for the lcd/lens and the Sigma DG UV Filter (67mm).

I was surprised at how comfy the grip was vs the Rebel XT. It just seemed to fit my hand better. I bought what I felt comfy with because I knew I would be the one who has to hold onto it. My baby finger on the XT was dangling free and well I could see my hand starting to cramp up down the road.

Quite the upgrade from my Fuji Film 4800z point and shoot... LOL.

Now comes the fun part of figuring out how the heck to work it. :)

d50 is a very good camera...although i have the d70s..its always amazed me how this d50 camera can produce beautiful pictures. the only reason why i bought the d70s is because of the commander mode. but i like the pictures coming from d50.
congrats...

Congrats on the new gear, enjoy. Welcome aboard...Calgary here.

Thanks JR. Im happy with the camera. Cottage photos in Muskoka are going to have so much more depth now I believe. Im going to enjoy taking sunset views come spring time next year. Tonight starts up the learning process.

I love my D50, although I have the 18-55 and an ancient 105mm MicroNikkor which really got a new life after 16 years. You bought a beautiful cam and I have shot more pictures with more keepers than I did with my F801.

I'm looking forward to your pictures.

Congrats! I got the same body & lens last Christmas but had to return the lens after 2 days. It went completely crazy hunting. Got a new one - no questions asked @ Henry's in Newmarket - and have been a happy shooter since.

Tip: read the manual and try everything that's in there.

Have fun!

Willem

GASP You mean you don't have the battery charging???

Congrats on your purchase... I've been as happy as a pig in... errr.... mud... with mine!

Congradulations on your new Canera. It will work very much like
your old Fuji.
Yeppers. Tonite after work ill be breaking it out of the box and
going through the manual and learning!

You're going to love the camera and the fun you'll have finding new and creative ways to use it!

Now get out there and shoot some photos we can look at!!!!

Welcome to the group!

HAVE FUN AND LOTS OF IT. It is one hell of a machine. I still use mine in travels and in harms way places. Get on Adorama and B&H used and if money allows get a 50mm f/1.8D or any other bargins and build up your glass. I just purchased a D200 - grateful for my D50
