Recently my C-2100UZ stopped working, and I had to send it in for repair. (I had accidentally let the batteries drain too much by leaving the camera connected the computer for too long.) I was expecting a wait of at least two weeks, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived today!
I sent it to the West Coast Service Center via FedEx Express, and it arrived there on the 16th, work was started on the 17th, and they sent it to me yesterday (21st). That's quite a quick turnaround considering there was a weekend within that time period. I received it today, my camera was packaged well, and was shipped UPS Next Day Air.
They replaced the power circuit board, CCD, and did something else (I can't make out the writing). The new CCD is great, only two hot pixels showed up at 8 seconds (ISO100), and their average luminance was 68, so they are hard to spot. The old CCD would show hot pixels in some pictures that had exposures of less than 1 second. The firmware was also upgraded from v352u-73 to v352u-77. The only difference that I see with the new firmware is that the EVF and LCD displays are much more accurate where incandescent light is used. Before, when framing a picture, the camera’s display would have a deep red tint to it, but now it looks much better.
All in all, I’m actually glad my camera needed to be fixed, it was a short wait and it’s better now than the day I brought it home.
