I was playing around with the Best-shot making program Bestman. I noticed it had an option to pick your Composition Outline. That got me thinking; I should make a best shot option for each of them.

I set to work, and made a quick version of each. I used the camera to go in and see how the lines look. I then used Photoshop to create an image for each. Then from there I used Bestman to match the pictures with the composition outlines, and viola. I got 12 Best Shots that can be used on the Casio Z850, and each have their own composition lines.

I went with a simple style on the preview pictures. If you care to create different pictures or enhance them, I did include the Photoshop PSD that I used to make them.

The thing is, I found that the images end up all messed up on my camera. I assume this has something to do with the way Bestman is exporting the JPE files? I know the creator of Bestman looks at these forums, so hopefully he can help me out.

Other than that, I think they turned out well, hope you find them helpful.

You can download the zip file (All the images, JPE Best Shots, and PSD) here:

Were all the jpe's that you created messed up in the camera? Or were only specific ones OK? If so, which ones worked and which ones need some remedial work?

Thank you for taking the time and effort and then post jpe's that may benefit all 850 owners.

It seems that they are all the same way. They just have really weird issues with the images. Like if you first turn it on, they will be green/pink striped, and weird stuff like that.

Sorry, this is the best my old camera can do (Got to love me new Z850):

You can see how the preview is all messed up. Sometimes it is fine, and sometimes it looks similar to that. It is odd. I used JPG images from Photoshop as the source images, if that makes a difference.

Ahhhh, yes. They work much better in when you cycle through the best shots menu. Though, it is still messed up in the little preview that appears when you switch modes.

How about just printing your picture, then taking a shot of it with the z850, and making that into a bestshot as per the standard instruction manual method? Then you're pretty much guaranteed a Casio standard bs, and you can tweak the parameters with a bestshot editor.

Good idea, maybe I'll try that from now on.
