Heya All,

I've just got back from Pensacola's Blue Angel Air show, and I took out my D80 + Stock 18-135 Lens, but even at 135mm I wish I could of zoomed some more, would a 200mm gave a better picture, or a bigger zoom lens. Has anyone done some photo shootings @ an AirShow before?

I do also have a 55-200mm lens, but forgot to bring it. Would that have been a better Lens..

I'm a newbie, so I'm trying to learn it :)

Thanks

just last week I shot a local air show with my 180mm f/2.8. it was long enough for the closer flybys, but I wish I had taken my 300 f/4. please post some of your shots.

here are some of mine

Edward,

At the moment, I have no hosting for my pics, and also there still un-edited, but If I can find a free hosting for pics, I would love to show some of my pics.

Ed,

I will have some pics up here shortly, I just installed my Own WebServer and will get them online.

my pbase website and check out lots of shots I've taken with it.

And, I got that lens from B&H (a while back), and they were selling for $100, then :-)

I also have a 28-200 G, which is a good, lightweight, walk-around lens, and I will use it, instead of the 70-300 since I have to also carry my 18-55 with it if I want to shoot anything that's not 'up in the sky' :-)

Air shows tend to have nice weather so you don't need a very fast lens. A budget telezoom such as the 70-300 g-type or the Sigma apo 70-300 will do nicely. Set aperture at F8 and shutter at 1/320 at least and you'll do fine with most subjects. Anything propeller driven generally looks better with a slower shutter speed if you can manage.
