As my shadow shows all too clearly this shot was lit by a low sun. Following a fire, earlier in the year, the reconstruction site has become surprisingly colourful.

Martin, was it taken now days? If so, the only difference I can see from south Portugal is that they do construction works during the low season...

And where is it, BTW?

Taken yesterday, after 1700, in Calahonda, Mijas-Costa.

I wondered what folk might think of the almost horizontal lighting and the fact that I had set the camera to Vivid and Sharp. I did do a little pp too.

Nice shot - very colourful!

I think the silver car steals too much attention because of the light (and it's not that interresting) - maybe you could try with the sun more from the side than this (its like a giant built-in flash;-). This could give you more of the structures and shadows, as you have capured on the left side. Just a thought - don't know if it would look good ;)

Btw - were you wearing shorts here?! Brrr

Best regards,

Asbjørn

Its a nice experiment, I have never used vivid and sharp, maybe it still a little overexposed, as the irridecent cars have lost a bit of colour. I like the late afternoon light for photo taking though.

Ummm, "Mijas", interesting name from a Portuguese word... ;-)

Absjörn, I spend this afternoon walking on the beach, thinking how I'de love to have this water temperature during summer...

If there is a doubt, just take a look a this photo, taken at 17.20h:

For some reason this is the so call "S. Martinho's Summer" in Portugal. Believe me, I was quite envious of the people bathing...

For those who live in colder climes, here is a shot of grapefruit hiding from this morning's sun and gradually ripening. At this time of the year I do not wear shorts A! I have been here long enough to adopt local standards.

Very apt Rui. We are also have video film making as a hobby and have sympathy with the producers of "the real thing".

Eric - a very practical response. These are not yet ripe but last years crop were remarkably sweet; not what one expects from the yellow fruit.

Where were you in Brittany? Very impressed with your views of the area - I too am fascinated by the Breton roofing system.

Thanks Lomig, and what a fantastic sunset you've got! Britanny is a fantastic place. I've been there last summer and did love it. BTW, I think I have a photo on the same menir in Carnac where you took one too, its the "Géant du Manio"?
