Peter,

great shots. I will travel to Switzerland, Germany and Italy this week spending 5 days in Lausanne. Your pictures truly inspire to shoot some warming picutes in the cold of alpine snow. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Doug,

please help my ignorance (I am not a dancer). What is the Prix de Lausanne. I would be intested in seeing them if it is between Jan. 27th and Feb. 1st.

Joachim,

The Prix de Lausanne is a competition for young ballet dancers who are on the verge of making dancing a career. As well as a competition with prizes of scholarships to well known dance company schools, it is a bit of an expose for the dancers with various "talent scouts" in attendance.

Age is limited to 15 to under 18. This year there are 119 registrations from around the world, eg 11 from Australia, 16 from France but, surprisingly only 4 from the USA. Unfortunately the finals and prize giving is on the 2nd Feb.

There is a chance I (and a dancer of course!) may be there next year.

Doug,

thanks for the useful links. To bad that I have to leave already on Friday. Maybe I can sneek in a session earlier than Sa or Sun.
