Pentax Newbie Mini Challenge #32. Img0826

Down, south of Portland, outside of Eugene. The MacKenzie river, right near the U of O campus. It was 9-11-2006 and another in a string of beautiful late summer days in Oregon. I wound up shooting the sunset from the bridge and had a wonderful time.

I was in town for a work project, but finished the day with time to spare, so I decided to take a little side trip and see what I could find to take pictures of.

I love the contrast between young, fresh and mobile vs. old,
worn-out and junked.
What is the story behind the burnt out car? I like the contrast
between the innocence of the girl on the bike and the mystery
behind the car. (I do hope no one was hurt)
It's just a dumped, burned-out old car in a car park where we play football on a Saturday. But it is very pretty, what with all the orange rust bloom and all. I've seen students sketching it, and doting grandparents taking snaps of the grandkids sitting in it. You really can't not take a photo of it. Better still, anything else looks more interesting beside, in, or in front of it. I expect the council will remove it soon, but I doubt I will be the only one sorry to see it go.

I wish it was called "home"
Well, my wife does most of the cleaning in our family and I am not sure she would agree !

Amazingly it is called home for some as it is a privately owned castle. No visits!

Thanks for posting Tom, i like the contrast between the foreground grass and the rocks behind. The rocks look very interesting with there texture did you get any close up of the rock formations?

I tried a little landscape photography once before, but it sucked... 8-)

This is my first go at a morning shot in the mist with my 12-24mm. Taken on 10/28/06. I took several of them, so it was easy to get IMGP0826. I have new DS and K100D bodies, so that's why my counts are so low.

Corrected the highlight/shadows, decreased the exposure, and this is what I got:

Cheers!
