Lens understanding help

Can someone help me understand what lenses are useable on E-500
Start at:
http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/oly-e/lenses.html

That lists all the 4/3 lenses available and soon to be released. To find out how to use manual focus film lenses on the camera, see:
http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/oly-e/any-lens.html

While you're at those pages, click on "Other Articles" at the top of those pages for more great information about the E-500 and other Four Thirds cameras.

all four thirds lens. Manafactured by Olympus (Zuiko), Sigma, Panasonic (Leica) Olympus makes the most by far just look for 4:3 or 4/3 designation. Adaptors are made to use other lens from other manafactures but will only work in manual modes only no AF.

O.K. Thanks... So I can use other lenses with adapter but only can use manual focus... Right?

Right. Manual focus only, AND you need to be able to set the F-stop manually.

The 50mm f2 is also pretty fast, considering that it is equal to a 100mm for 35mm. Anf the 11-22 (= to 22-28mm with its 2.8 to 3.5) and the 50-200 (=to 100-400 f2.8 to 3.5) are no souches either. And, oh yes, there are also the 150 f2 (=to a 300 f2!) and the 300 f2.8 (= to a 600 f 2.8) The last two are, as Lauri Sippu's photo's demonstrate, fantastic lenses...if you have lots of money.

One advantage of the 4:3 mount is that, because of its shallow falnge, you can adapt lenses from almost any 35mm slr, except for canon, if you are willing to use them in manual, stop down mode.
