Here are a couple more from this great lens. Love the lens, wish the focussing distance was closer. Thanks for looking.

happy shooting

nice photos :)

Could you give an idea of the distance between you and the "sujects" in the two photos ?

I'm going to take the 50mm 1.4 with the 400D instead of the 85mm 1.8 because of that ( not enough distance )

Thx

ok thanks. Unlike what some say, these distances are quite small and seem to allow indoor photo... or maybe they mean that bigger distance is necessary to have more DOF. I'll stick with the 50m f1.4

Cheers

I have read your other post and hope your finding the right lens for your work. I have the 50mm 1.8 when the 85mm is too long. I do take a lot of shots with the 85mm indoors and I have a small house. That said I do wish my 50mm was of the 1.4 variety. I cant have them all.

Hey Johnboy, thanks.

As you say we can't have them all ... I mean ...not yet ;)

This afternoon I ordered the 400D+Canon 50 f1.4+ compact flash 2Go sandisk extreme III.

Nice combination to begin with ;)

I just have to find a nice bag. Which one do you have ? Not sure about the size. At the beginning it will be the 400D+50mm, and probably later I will add another lens like the 85mm f1.8 or the macro 60mm. Lowepro seems to make nice top loaders bags.

And then a tripod..

Talk later

Seb I started with a lowepro micro trekker backpack but soon outgrew it. I now use a lowepro mini trekker also a backpack. It contains the following:

300d
kit lens
50mm with hood
85mm with hood
70-200 F4 with hood
sigma super 500 flash
1.4 tc
filters
camera manual and charger, filters

ok indeed you needed more space ^^

Once I'll receive my 400D I'll go in a specialized shop to check for the best sized bag.

Oh while I'm here, I was wondering if it's a good idea to buy a filter ( UV ? ) to protect the lens...? The lens will be used with care but you never know..

I haven't done a research on the forum so forget my question if it's already been covered a million times ;)

Can't wait to use my Canon ^^

Using a filter to protect the front element of a lens is a personal choice.I have read both sides of the argument. The lens hood for this lens is a monster and I cannot imagine getting to the lens element. From what I read the advice is if you must use a filter use the best you can get-dont cheap out on the filter.
