UZI Census Results (continued)

UZI owner here, third digicam purchased (Kodak DC290, CoolPix775 previously) and my definite favorite of the bunch.

After appoximately 24 hours the UZI Census thread maxed out at the
forum's 150 post limit. The unofficial count is:

150 messages, 1 Bump, and 1 duplicat message (still need to verify).

That comes to 148 UZI owners who replied in a 24 hour period.
(actually one post was about an hour into the next day).

Owners who have NOT been counted yet may reply to this post with
the same guidlines:

forum? (Maybe I should have done a search before doing this, but
what the heck).

If each UZI owner replies to this post, and does so once and only
once, then you could have a quick total of how many owners that
fairly regularly visit this forum. But if you had a couple of rules
in place for bumping the message to the top every once in a while
the count might be fairly accurate.

For ease of counting, the rules might be to only reply to the
original post (this one), if you bump the message up the the top,
you have to change the subject line to "BUMP". That way a quick
check of how many owners there are would be the "Messages" count
minus how many "BUMP" posts there are, and if only the original
post is replied to, everything will line up pretty well for an easy
"BUMP" count.

That's it.

Just a thought because I noticed there are a lot of us it seems. >

I have own. It's a great camera. I've had a few others in the past (HP C30, Sony Mavica FD-83, FD-88, Fuji 4800, Olympus 3040, Canon G2) The Olympus 2100 is the only camera I still own. (I gave the 3040 to my dad & sold the rest). Will probably hold onto the 2100 until I can afford a Nikon D1x. :)--JTOlympus C-2100UZOlympus C-3040Z

After just 5 days, the unofficial UZI owner count for the Olympus forum comes to 230 owners. By Friday most of the regular UZI owning forum members should be accounted for. What's it all mean? Who knows, but there can be benefits in the numbers. For instance when contacting the manufacturer about different issues there is greater influence when 200+ owners make the same request rather than just one. I've seen on other forums (for car enthusiast for instance), where a forum could negotiate special deals with suppliers simply becuase of the numbers...like "get 25% off by mentioning the forum", etc. Who knows? I wouldn't mind owning a B300 or an A200 at a 'reasonable' price...

Ted, thanks for your effort in this. In light of the possibilities of group discounts for certain items, it wasn't such a silly census after all :> )

I'm a UZI owner. My first digicam, and a darned good choice, if I do say so myself ;)

Hello from Lahore, Pakistan

I did my search and analysis on this forum a few months ago, finally got my uzi here at the start of this year

I had different digital camera and like the most UZI. I have two issues with UZI to have it as the only camera - only 2Mp and size. However, at this time it is the only camera (digital) I have. I probably never use again my film cameras. During my son's wedding I used film camera just because of its F1.4 lens. The results are week. The way it is developed and printed are totally out of my control. I have used Wolf camera with a hope they control the process better, however, I could see the prints sharpness was not good also all printed images are of very high contrast.

Ted:

I just purchased a C-2100UZ. Can hardly wait to use it. I bought it after much research, including reading comments in the several discussion forums from what appears to be an almost cult following of this camera!

Regards,
Jim G.

Jim, have you shaved your head yet? That is a requirement of the cult. Also make sure you walk counter clockwise around the ring of candles and be prepared to drink the specially prepared kool-Aid. We will see you on "the other side"

Seriously though, congrats on your purchase of a fine camera and don't be afraid to ask any questions here. One tip if I may...

Pretend the IS isn't there. (hold as steady as you would without it) Image stabilization is a fantastic feature but not an excuse to handhold sloppy...

One more...have fun and share some photos...

So, Try to tell us how many we hit just before we get to the limit of this thread. I'm curious about the numbers.

I don't care too much for Kool Aid, but the rest sounds fine!

Thanks for the tip.
