Hi All

Just like to hear some opinion or experience that you might had regarding generic brand batteries hoping to add one Xtra on my kit. just not sure the route to take I hate to pay Xtra just for the good name as it may just turn out to be. Any info will be much appreciated
Cheers!

I purchased a replacement from BatteryBarn. $17 with shipping. Same as the first generic in the test above (Power 2000 model) but with 1000mah on the label. Got about 200 shots out of the first charge. A second recharge may prove more successful.

All things considered, a cheap spare.

Gee For that price and the amount shoot that it gives I think I will check with them (panasonic brand here in B.C. Canada goes for almost $70 CDN can buy me a few spare one at the time of course Thank for you input I am sure you change my mind Thanks indeed!
Cheers!

The battery barn batteries work and the company is 1st rate but do not expect them to be as good as the Panasonics, but I have a couple for backup.

I present the data and now you can choose what you want to do. pany (oem) batts are clearly the winners, but they also cost more than the gain they give.

I should mention that fit is also an issue. I haven't seen a single report about an oem batt not fitting, but I have seen non-zero amount of reports on non-oem ones ;)

for $5 ebay specials, if they test good and last during a shoot, I'm cool with that! but I also don't 'count' on them for important things. for important shoots, I'd use a new-ish oem OR a dps-9000 style bulk battery (google it). the dps offers a very good price/perf but mounts outside and not inside.

I've had extremely good luck with the BatteryBarn batteries myself. I tend to use the EVF and only occasionally use the LCD. I've been able to get over 300 shots on a single charge this way. Buy a second battery and you'll need a matching 2GB card. Otherwise you may have more battery power than storage. I'm there now.. 2 batteries and a single 2GB card. My card is full before my battery is dead...... must buy more... must buy more... must
The cycle never ends.

I bought a replacement battery from these folks for my FZ50. It has proven to be remarkable, much better than the Panasonic battery. I can easily fill a 2GB card with 10MP shots taken as JPEGs on 1 charge and have plenty of charge left. This is a sample of one so I have no way of knowing if it is a fluke or not. But for $14 I've decided to get another.

Well I can tell you that I have had my FZ20 for almost two years now. I bought two batteries in addition to the original Panasonic battery that came with the camera. Only the original Panasonic battery is still working. The other two died out. So extended life is another factor to consider.
