And, like Morris said, if you see the difference, you're doing well...
But the MF button has another function as well. If pess the shutter
release half way and HOLD IT half way pressed, then hit the MF
button, your focus has been locked. Then, you can let go of the
shutter and recompose somehwhere else. That's good if you're having
trouble getting a good focus lock the normal way or if you just
want to focus on one area and expose on another... Anway, that's in
the book, but I had trouble coming to grips with all this, too, and
this forum is where I finally found my answers!

Could someone give me the EXACT button sequence you would go
through to activate, and then use, the manual focus feature of the
G2. When MF is turned on, is it operated with a single button or
does it require pressing two buttons at the same time? I've heard
it's quite ackward to use and the G2 manual doesn't do a good job
describing it.
