700Is vs. 800IS Conclusion?

I have noticed you straining to try to inform people that the 800
is NOT an "update" - my advice? Forget it
They can call it anything they want. The fact of the matter is that
the focal lengths are quite different: 28mm - 105mm and 35mm -
140mm/equiv.
The SD800 is not what I would call an update of the SD700 it is a new model with 28mm and Digic III. To me thse are different features. Those have not appeared before in the "Elph" series. Likely the SD 700 will get an update to Digic III with the same zoom 35mm - 140mm/equiv. Anyhow the 28mm to 105mm is what I need since I prefer a wider end in a point and shoot so I will be getting the SD800. Not because it is a "later" model. 28mm is a big difference. If I needed the 35-140 range though I would probably wait for an updated SD700 with Digic III rather than buy now.

Hmmmm.....maybe not enough. It might be worth buying just to try it out from a good retailer so that I can return it to if needed.

I already owned the SD700 for several months and taken almost 4000 pictures and enjoy using it and I really like the 140mm. I purchased the SD800 few days ago since I'm doing a lot of self portrait with my 2 kids and I can't extend my arms that long to fit all of us on the framed. Its seems that everybody forgot about the safety zoom feature of this camera that 5MP will give you 4.5X and 3MP will give you almost 6X of zoom. If I need extra zoom I just lower my MP and I won't miss my SD700. 1MP difference cant be that bad.

I recently bought the SD 700 IS and I noticed dark spots on the right bottom corner when shooting using the flash on wide angle...anybody else have this problem? is it normal? it only happens when shooting with wide angle.....
