Took these at the local fireworks display last night. It's the first time I've tried to take pictures of fireworks. All shots handheld and roughly 1/100th F2.8 with 350d and Tamron 28-75) - for those who insist on knowing what settings every shot ever taken was taken with... ;)

LOL - I'm in Hove - small world. My pics were taken from my sister's flat which backs onto the cricket ground so we got the display free as well.

I should have used a tripod really, but it was a party and not a photography assignment. I'm keen on the enjoy it for yourself and take a couple of pictures, rather than live life through the viewfinder.

Wanted to go down to the beach to day as a) the sunset looked amazing and b) it was supposed to be an amazingly low tide and some folk have been predicting that you;d be able to walk around the West Pier. Madness.

However, I've been stuck in bed virtually all day with a stinking cold so didn't make it....

I have a friend that lives in Drive Lodge that backs onto the cricket ground. I might have to go there next year. It looks as though you had more expensive fireworks going off on that one Our lot are set off by a crescent that has an enclosed park There were lots of them, but no really huge ones. I guess you might have some pictures of the Elton John concert as well???

You weren't in Newhaven the other day catching the Cormorants on camera were you? I saw a 400 user there.

I know Drive Lodge....

We weren't about for the EJ concert (and I'll admit it's not really my cup of tea) - but you can't actually see the pitch from my sister's flat. They did say that it totally wrecked their enjoyment of Match of the Day that evening though! :)

Nah, wasn't me you spotted. I've got a 350d btw. I do have the camera with me quite a bit and the give-away lens for picking me out of a crowd would be an old war-horse Canon 80-200 F2.8 L. Cracking lens, if a bit (very) heavy and slower focusing than modern L lenses....

Nice work guys,

Here's a couple I got, handheld with kit lens, my first ever attempt at firework pictures, and on my first slr, one is a bit overeposed but I love the shape. These were from neighbours displays, nothing big, couldn't get to my local big display ) :

Both on 400D

Good stuff. I can imagine that those that don't like EJ were a bit miffed at the racket. Nothing wrong with old lenses. I would get hold of FD lenses if EOS took them, I used to have some lovely lenses and stuff that I can't afford these days. Make do with Kit +Tamron 70-300, not a patch on a "L" but haven't got an "L" of a lot of money to buy them with!! hey ho.
